I sat down to write this blog and had a hard time coming up with the words. How do you describe two people who mean so much to you and the friendships that surrounded the entire wedding? When I walked around the reception of this wedding I saw faces that live in my heart daily. Faces that have been there during the most exciting times, very sad times and all the times in between that make up my memories of the last five years of our life. I saw people who we have adopted as our family. Christine and Brian are two people who mean the world to us. When they asked me to photograph their wedding i was so honored.  
 
If I could have imagined the perfect wedding for these two I don't think I would have imagined anything different. Christine and Brian love their friends, family and they love the ease and laid back side of life. They were married under the oak trees on a beautiful June day. After the ceremony they went inside for dancing but quickly the party moved back outside where people stood around having conversations and laughing. Christine and Brian buried a bottle of bourbon a month before their wedding to keep the rain away so part of the reception moved to the hole where it was buried. It was the perfect event and summed up their personalities and I was so glad to be there to document the day.

I drove up to Bowen's home on a very stormy and dark afternoon. The storm was rolling in and the rain was coming down with no sign of stopping. That's always a little concerning for a photographer because you worry how it will affect your clients. I walked into a house bursting at the seams with excitement and preparation! The formal dining table was covered with gifts sent to the happy couple, dresses and wedding details lined the winding stairway leading up to the second floor, sounds of bridesmaids laughing echoed in the back of the house. It was like a scene out of a movie. The day was here and nothing could dampen the mood! Bowen was radiant and beaming from ear to ear as she sat in her chair getting ready for the day. Bridesmaids surrounded her taking pictures, telling stories and admiring their friend on her wedding day. Bowen was marrying the love of her life and surrounded by her closest of friends and family she was glowing!  
 
From their home we drove to the church for the ceremony. When the church filled up the music started and Bowen walked down the aisle on her father's arm to Matt waiting at the end of the aisle. After the ceremony we drove in the trolley to the reception where Complete Desire was set up to entertain the guests. And in true Complete Desire fashion they brought the house down! After they mingled with their guests they danced the night away and then exited to sparklers in the rain! 
 
I have the honor of working with some of the most incredible couples who make my job an absolute blast. I get to see people commit their lives to one another on one of the most important days of their life and document their laughter, emotions and tears of joy. I am so blessed to do this and people like Bowen, Matt and their family is what keeps me loving every second of this. I drove away that night feeling so honored to be there and was truly inspired by Bowen and Matt. Even a little power outage because of the storm never stopped them from focusing on the true reason and meaning of the day.

Susan and Cliff's wedding was an experience that cannot be accurately explained. As I entered the room it felt almost like walking right into another century. The crooked aisle adorned with candles appeared as if on fire while chandeliers hung low from the ceiling. Some dangled dramatically all the way to the floor. At the end of the meandering aisle, a ribbon-draped chuppah, appeared out of the darkness like a canopy of light. Overcome with emotion, Susan drifted slowly down the aisle hand-in-hand with her lovely daughters to the band's soft, melodic rendition of Falling Slowly. Tears streamed down the faces of their guests as Susan approached Cliff and his beautiful twin daughters who waited under the chuppah. The couple circled one another and then paused to exchange lingering glances with guests, each other, and to breathe in the glorious atmosphere of the room and the moment.  
 
After exchanging their emotional and thoughtfully composed vows, Susan and Cliff invited guests to stand up to offer their own thoughts and blessings. The ceremony was not only one of the most gorgeous I have ever seen but extremely personal as well. Everyone in attendance truly felt honored to be there. After an extended cocktail hour, dinner was served family-style on long wooden tables dripping with glowing chandeliers and flickering candles. Then...the party broke out. I loved watching a large group of wedding photographers who rarely have the opportunity to be wedding guests take full advantage of the great band and amazing food. It was quite a sight to behold and everyone had a truly fantastic time!  
 
This beautiful couple are phenomenal photographers who have my great admiration and were mentors to me even before we ever became friends. Over a year has passed since Susan and Cliff asked me to photograph their wedding. A true honor...and one that came along with a fair amount of pressure. Soon after I agreed to photograph Susan and Cliff's wedding, Daniel Kudlish, an incredibly talented and creative photographer and someone whose work I admire, came on board to photograph the day along with me. His eye and his attention to unique and interesting angles allowed us to provide our dear friends with multiple and complementing perspectives of their gorgeous day.  
 
I cannot express how excited I am for this beautiful couple. Susan and Cliff, I adore you both so much and I am so thankful for your role in my life!  

The day after the wedding we met at Cliff's studio for a day-after session. Susan and Cliff chose not to see each other before the ceremony and didn't want to take time away from their family and friends so we didn't have much time for portraits of the two of them alone the day of the wedding. The day after session was a blast! Ray Roman joined us to film more of them together and Susan and Cliff also photographed each other. We had such a great time shooting and playing with different ideas. I found it especially fun because I was able to take my main shooter hat off a little and play around with different angles as Cliff shot Susan. I felt like there was such an ease to the day because they didn't feel pressured to focus on being photographed but were able to enjoy their friends and family.

I'm a few months late on posting this year in review but I feel like they are so important I didn't want to not post it at all. 2012 was a fantastic year for not only photography but for my personal life as well. I watched my two baby boys grow into toddlers and, as promised, that's when the fun really began. My husband and I pretend we are in charge around this house but the truth is we are only pretending to be in charge as we play police, teacher, mom and dad, nurse and every other role you can possibly think of. I can't take a trip to the grocery store without hearing from someone more experienced than I in the mothering department that this time passes too quickly and enjoy every minute of it. So that's what we are trying to do but I have to admit there are days the toddler stage seems like it could be the longest chapter of our lives. But even in this stage it's been truly amazing watching these two little boys learn about the world around them and how even the smallest things they find fascinating. It has helped me to remember a time when all I needed was the outdoors and an imagination and my day was complete.  
 
My love for photography grows each year as I challenge myself to become stronger and work on my creative eye and ability to capture emotion. Each year I look back and in the midst of all that I learned as a photographer can point out one main achievement and 2012 was no different. When I came into the year last January I knew that I wanted to take my ability to anticipate and capture moments and relationships to a new level. I worked harder to capture moments as they naturally happened and took my documentary eye to a new level. My desire for an image to be the result of a true and honest moment became my number one goal.  
 
2013 is a very exciting year for me and for my family. I'm so very pleased with the clients and coordinators I will be working with this year and can't wait to travel to new places and shoot a few locally as well.

If there's ever been a wedding with more tears and laughter than Corinne and Jason's I would have to witness it myself. Corinne has an amazing sense of humor and incredible personality that kept her friends and family in stitches the entire day. But just when the laughter would die down the happy tears would start to flow. Corinne and Jason were married on a cool and beautiful January day in Tallahassee. Corinne's best friend couldn't make the event as she was days away from having a baby so she attended via facetime and even gave her toast projected on the wall. Jason was just as kind with a matching exuberant personality. I was honored to witness the relationships all around them and enjoyed watching these two families come together with so much excitement!
